“L’abitare, il risiedere, è radicalmente differente
dal visitare, dal transitare. Implica la condivisione
di una visione e di un modo di agire l’arte tra i
componenti del gruppo, la sua estraneità al luogo
ospitante, l’entrare in relazione autentica e quotidiana
con l’ambiente, il paesaggio, i suoi abitanti: in
breve comporta e permette di far affiorare in un’
opera d’arte tutto ciò che la mappa esclude, che la
cartografia estromette.
Una cartina geografica fisica o politica ha colori irreali
e convenzionali, non contempla la presenza umana
(una città deserta e una popolata sono segnalate nello
stesso modo, così come il territorio cui appartengono),
è priva ogni specificità, fragranza, atmosfera, cenni
di vita. Così deve essere. Serve a chi non è mai stato
in un luogo per orientarcisi, calcolare distanze da
un punto a un altro eludendo tutto ciò che sta in
mezzo. L’operazione di far coincidere la realtà con
la mappa cartografica non è imputabile alla mappa
stessa, ma al nostro modo di percepire e di conoscere
assuefatto inconsapevolmente all’artificio assoluto
della rappresentazione astratta di uno spazio.”

The village of Mondolfo was developed by layers, an
underlay of undergrounds caves ramifies in his interiors,
under the cellars of the historical centre’s houses. The
authorities also imposed the pull down of a floor in each
house in the aftermath of an earthquake in the thirties.
The sound installation echoes the entire city in her
forgotten tunnels, as they are still visible, respirable and
hearable through the grates of the windows at feet level.
The photo-collage is the result of a mixture of landscape
photos of the zone, sections and hill lines accord
themselves in their horizontal development on the wall.
An imaginary overhead vision, how the maps were
designed in the antiquity.
The sound and video installation consists of a video
which is camera take in summer, on 360 degree at different
speed of rotation with the sound of cicadas, and
of a door which separate the screen from the viewer,
who can hear it normally but he is obliged to peek at it
through an hole.
Cròniche is a publication of 1000 copies, in which are
printed the photos did to the local people dressed with
a mantel for two, which recall the mantel of the Virgin
typical of that region.
